Connecting volunteer drivers with passengers needing transport
Freedom Wheels is a community transport service administered for North Yorkshire County Council by SCAD (Skipton & Craven Action for Disability).
The service is designed to fill a gap in public transport provision with a social car scheme. Volunteers provide a door to door service using their own cars to help those who are unable to access public transport because of reduced mobility from injury, disability or age, or simply because of where they live.
Examples of journeys include getting to doctors and dentists appointments, shopping, making public transport connections and visiting friends.
